Welcome To The Website Traffic GuideA free guide to getting website traffic (website visitors) to increase your website hits count
This is a new site dedicated to helping webmasters get visitors to their site. I started it to help people I had sold websites to, so that they can prosper in their new venture. In the past I simply sent them an email with a selection of hints in it, but for many of them that was not enough, they needed more detail and more advice. Also, the email often got stopped by their spam filter so they never got to see it anyway. My new system is going to be to simply send them a link to this page. Here I can go into more detail, and a short email with one link in it is less likely to go astray than a long one filled with words that spam blockers hate.
So if you are already one of my clients, welcome, I hope this helps you. If you are not someone who has bought something from me already, then you are welcome too, I'll probably try to sell you something at some point to make up for the fact that you are not already one of my clients :)
If you are here because you are a member of "The Website Traffic Club", then you missed an email! I have moved "The Website Traffic Club" and you were emailed (at the email address you registered with the club) with the new URL. Look in your "spam bin" if you have not seen it. If it is not there, email me and I'll resend it. Give me your membership ID and I'll resend it to the address we have on record for you. If you no longer have access to that address (naughty, naughty, you should have updated it) include your password and old email address so that I know you are who you say you are, and let me know your new address so that I can update our records and send it to your new address.
If you are not a member of "The Website Traffic Club" but came here to join, then sorry we are full at the moment. If I get more capacity, or if some members drop out, I'll post a message here with a link to the sign up form. Please DON'T email me asking to be put on the waiting list, because I tried that in the past, and ended up wasting a lot of time chasing people up who no longer wanted to be members.
So assuming you are here because you have a website and want to get some traffic to it, and not because you are looking for "The Website Traffic Club", then where do you start? Well the index on the left is a good place :) This site has only just been started, there is a lot more I intend to add. So the site will grow constantly over the next few months. At the moment it only lists a few ways you can get free traffic for your site. I'll add more with time, but there are plenty to get started on in the meantime. I'll also eventually add a comparison of the various types of paid advertising you can get, with tips on how to make the best use of whatever you do decide upon. And thirdly I'll write a piece or two about how to write good adverts to your site. If you are new to running a website I'd advise you to wait until then before paying for advertising. I sell advertising myself, and over half the adverts sent to me are so bad that I doubt if they result in a single sale, and a good few are so bad that they will actually scare away surfers from ever visiting the site.
Well, that is about it as an introduction, take a look at the index, try all the links and decide how you want to get started. Then keep coming back to read all the new articles as I add them. It is probably best if you bookmark this site now so you can find it again.
Lastly, let me wish you good luck with your site, and I hope you make good money with it.

NEW
This column's layout and style was stolen from JW Throat. Well I give him a lot of help on his site, it is about time he returned the favour.
17 August
Two new pages this week one on social networking and one on email signatures. They are on pages 9 and 10 in the index to the right.
Hopefully I'll add another page or two during the week, but I am away again next weekend (once more it is work related) so I may not have the time.
