Free Ad Sites

Get website traffic (website visitors) from free ad sites.

All over the Internet you will find free ad sites. These are sites where you post your ad for free, it starts at the top of the list, and moves down. Finally, when a certain number of other ads have been posted above it (the number varies from site to site) your advert falls off the end.

There are two reasons to use this type of service. One is to get direct clicks, the other is to get your link popularity up. If you are hoping for direct clicks, note that you won't get many while you are at the top, and the lower your ad drops the less you will get! If you are after link popularity, remember that there will be tens of thousands of adverts on the site, so your share of the link popularity will be minimal, and, of course, it drops to zero after your link falls off the site. The only way this is worth while is if you ad your link to thousands of sites at once. And re-submit the ad about once a week. Fortunately there is a way to do this without spending several hours every day.

There are sites about that have scripts that allow you to add your link to hundreds, or even thousands, of sites at once. These are usually run by the software company that sells the scripts that run the sites. Going to the bigger ones and using "copy and paste" to add your details does mean you can submit (or re-submit) you ad to tens of thousands of sites in less than half an hour a week. This does make it more worthwhile.

Just one word of warning: Most free ad sites ask you for your email address. They do this because they make their money spamming the hell out of you. So use a free web based address just for this job, then you can delete the lot unread (but don't forget to delete them regularly or the email box will get full, their spam will bounce, and they will stop displaying your adverts). A few sites expect you to confirm your email address before you can place advert. If you only have to do this once when you sign up, then fine. But if you have to do it every time you renew your advert, then there are not enough hours in the day. Ignore that site.

This column's layout and style was stolen from JW Throat. Well I give him a lot of help on his site, it is about time he returned the favour.

25 September
As you will have noticed I did not manage to get an update in before my holiday. And since I got back I have been too buisy with the backlog of work that built up while I was gone to write anything here. But today, at last, I have uploaded something.

However it is probably not what you hoped for. Read the section numbered "0" and called "Start Here", you probably won't like it, but you need to hear it.

22 August
Four new pages this time, but one is very short. They are on pages 11, 12, 13, and 14 in the index to the left.

Yet again I am away over the weekend - I should actually have left an hour ago, so do not expect the next uopdate until near the end of next week. (Although it is a bank holiday, sadly my trip is work related once more.)

17 August
Two new pages this week one on social networking and one on email signatures. They are on pages 9 and 10 in the index to the left.

Hopefully I'll add another page or two during the week, but I am away again next weekend (once more it is work related) so I may not have the time.
